The Complex 13 blockhouse is the same style as the blockhouses at the active Complexes. It serves as
the operations and communications center for the Complex, and houses all of the equipment necessary
to control and monitor launch operations.
The blockhouse is a two-story dome built of two layers of
poured reinforced concrete separated by a thick layer of sand. The blockhouse is occupied during launches and hazardous
operations, as it is blastproof. Operations are viewed through periscopes and remotely by cameras. The
ready room (the flat-roofed building jutting out to the left) is a non-hardened building
that is
never occupied during launches.
