It is October 1, 1990, and a Delta II (specifically, a Delta 6925), awaits launch at Complex 17, pad A. This Delta II carries as payload a GPS Block II satellite: Navstar BII-09. This is part of the operational GPS II Global Positioning System constellation.

The Delta II is manufactured by Boeing, and has been in use since 1989. The first Delta II was launched on February 14, 1989, and carried a GPS II satellite into orbit. In fact, the Delta II was the launch vehicle for the entire constellation of GPS II satellites.
