It is January 18th of 1967, and a Titan IIIC (vehicle ID 3C-13) lifts off
from Complex 41. Its payload consists of eight IDCSP (Initial Defense
Communications Satellite
Program) satellites. IDCSP was the military's first geosynchronous communications system. This
was the third set of IDCSP satellites launched. All IDCSP satellites were
launched from this Complex, starting with the first set on June 16th of 1966,
and ending with the last on June 13th of 1968. In all, there were five sets of
IDCSP satellites launched (although the second set failed to achieve orbit).
