Complex 18, Pad A |
|
We are at Complex 18, Pad A looking at a Vanguard (SLV-1, -2, -3, or -4) being
prepared for launch. Note that the satellite is visible atop the rocket. This is
a Vanguard 2 (21-inch) satellite, the follow-on to the original (6-inch)
satellite.
The launch stand, umbilical tower, and equipment house are plainly
visible at the right side of the photo. The Mobile Service Tower (MST)
has been temporarily rolled a short distance away, and is visible to the left.
Atop the MST is a crane used to erect the Vanguard. In between the MST and the
launch stand, the blockhouse is visible in the distance.
