Complex 19 aerial view |
This is an aerial view of Complex 19, looking in the direction of southwest. In the foreground is the theodolite building. The building at the top of the photo is the decontamination building. The gray structure that extends from the launch stand to the upper right is a 650 foot long cable tunnel that leads to the blockhouse.
During a launch, 32,000 gallons of water per minute were sprayed from 80
nozzles on the flame bucket (the gray-blue structure to the right of the
erector) and the launch stand for fire safety. The concrete area you see extending to the bottom
right of the photo leads to the skimming basin, which could hold 1/2 million
gallons.
